Exhibition Platforms, Special Projects, Film Festival and More!
Hamilton Artists Inc. (The Inc.) is seeking dynamic proposals from artists, collectives and curators at various stages of their careers for its exhibition platforms and public programs. The Inc. is mandated to exhibit a range of artistic disciplines and career levels, and to exhibit a cross-section of artists from local, regional and national communities. Our exhibition platforms include the Cannon Gallery, James Gallery, Cannon Project Wall, and ArcelorMittal Dofasco Courtyard. We also accept proposals to our public programs, such as Incoming, Photophobia, and our Special Projects stream.
As an artist-run centre, we are interested in works/projects that have potential impact, push boundaries and engage with critical, conceptual and/or experimental thinking from a diverse range of perspectives and voices. We encourage independent projects that activate our audiences and exhibition spaces in unique ways. We are committed to providing platforms for risk-taking and creating an inclusive space for exploring expanded art practices. In addition to our galleries, our Special Projects stream invites proposals for projects that may occur on or off-site, manifesting through happenings, print materials, digital platforms, screenings, workshops or other forms of public presentation or intervention. The Inc. supports submissions that showcase artists and curators’ most recent endeavours as well as works that incite conversation and promote a range of intersectional narratives.
We welcome submissions from all qualified individuals and strongly encourage submissions from members of equity-seeking communities, including women, racialized and Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, and persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities/expressions. Please advise us of any accommodations needed to ensure you can access and complete the submissions process.
