The Last of Sheila

Reelout Queer Film + Video Festival

Reelout & HARS present our 3rd Queer Classic Films screening on July 17th. The Last of Sheila isn’t overtly “queer” in the subject matter of the film but it’s most certainly a queer film. It was written by musical legend Steven Sondheim and Psycho star (and gay actor) Anthony Perkins. Sondheim at the time loved to entertain guests with murder mystery role playing games and that became the impetus to write the screenplay. The film is about a yacht full of Hollywood friends in the south of France who engage in a playful murder-mystery role-playing game that turns deadly. It features Ian McShane (Game of Thrones, American Gods), Raquel Welch, Richard Benjamin, James Coburn, James Mason, Joan Hackett and a soundtrack featuring Bette Midler. The film is terrific fun with tons of twists and camp-appeal.

Admission is free. Wheelchair accessible. Close Captioned. Free popcorn. Everyone welcome! Doors open at 6:30 PM. Film at 7 PM.
