Nancy MacDonald

Canada - Nova Scotia

I am a white 53 year old female. I was recently diagnosed with a chronic illness and am new to identifying as disabled. After studying painting and photography at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, I was fortunate to have spent the past 30 years creating for a living. My career has led me from Nova Scotia to California, Toronto, Ottawa and back to Nova Scotia. I've worked as a newspaper photographer, a computer game artist, for 15 years, I've been an art gallery assistant and a children's book designer. I've even been a chef's assistant at a cooking school. Several years ago I began to get sick and my disease slowly progressed to the point where I had trouble continuing my computer work so I began making more traditional art. I am in the process of trying to learning to live with my new limitations while also wanting to remain productive and make an income.
