Pro D Workshop: Describing Opera
Hosted by VocalEye
This two-part workshop explores different approaches to describing opera for audience members who are blind and partially sighted.
Part One will look at the preparation of the audio description script and the research one might need to undertake, in order to fully understand the process, including libretti and working in different languages. We will discuss various layouts of the script and talk about the ways in which music can help us to tell the story and will give participants a project to work on before the next session. Instructors: Willie Elliott and Di Langford
Part Two will discuss the homework projects and the practicalities of live description in an opera setting. Instructors: Willie Elliott and Jane Bramble
This workshop is open to audio describers of all levels, professionals and students. The fee covers both sessions.
