In Speculation, Leslie Ting, a former optometrist and now a professional violinist, presents a digital re-imagining of this theatrical concert, taking the audience through witnessing her mother’s loss of vision, and eventual passing. Created through projections and music from both Beethoven & John Cage, this new online experience features experimental film and a collective performance of Cage’s 4’33”.
Audiences will be sent a link to the show closer to the event. This is a Theatre Passe Muraille and Leslie Ting Digital Co-Production in partnership with NUMUS. The show is created, performed, produced, directed and written by Leslie Ting; co-director, voice coach, access consultant Alex Bulmer; and co-director Tristan Whiston.
This show is meant to be enjoyed by audiences at all levels of sight including those who identify as having low-vision, non-sighted, or Blind. All shows are digital Relaxed performances. March 19th & March 20th will be ASL interpreted by Deaf interpreter Thurga Kanagasekarampillai.

About our digital Relaxed performances: Relaxed Performances are designed to welcome audience members and their families who could benefit from a more relaxed environment, including those who are neurodiverse and Autistic patrons. The digital set-up includes: access to a visual story for the play which includes clear instructions on accessing the performance link, a pre-show introduction to the actors/characters, the ability to access the performance for 24 hours after the performance, A Digital Front of House Manager to provide answers to any questions via phone, email, chat or zoom and a virtual "calm space" or a zoom meeting room that anyone can go to decompress before, during or after the performance.
