Ruff Masterclass 2021: Immerse Yourself in Verse with André Sills
Work your way through a new Shakespearean monologue with one of Canada’s most dynamic Shakespearean actors; André Sills.
André will be teaching his approach to Shakespearean verse speaking with a focus on rhetoric, argument building, and drive. Known for playing Coriolanus (directed by Robert Lepage – Stratford 2018) amongst many other notable roles all over the country, Sills will help you dive deep into some new text and find the power and joy of verse speaking.
After four weeks of working on your new piece with André, for the first time, we are also including a one-on-one ‘test-drive’ audition with Ruff’s leaders, Eva Barrie and Desirée Leverenz. Alongside simulating an audition environment and offering a re-direct (or two), they will provide feedback and advice for you to hit the ground running with your new piece.
We welcome applicants of all abilities and all cultural backgrounds. Our theatre celebrates the beauty and reality of diversity. We welcome queer, trans, and non-binary folx, newcomers to Canada, Indigenous people, Black people , people of colour, people of all physical and mental abilities. We welcome YOU!
