What's Up with DATT?

Hosted by SOUND OFF: A Deaf Theatre Festival

A workshop led by Catherine Joell MacKinnon, Deaf Community Consultant, with Tanisha Taitt, Artistic Director, Cahoots Theatre, exploring the partial survey results of Phase Two of Cahoot Theatre’s DATT (Deaf Artists and Theatres Toolkit) project.

Project Manager, Anita Small, Deaf Community Consultant, Catherine MacKinnon, and Joanne Cripps, External Deaf Consultant, along with the staff at Cahoots have created a comprehensive free online resource to advance the level of engagement and collaborations between theatre organizations and the Deaf community, including artists and audiences. The online guide was informed by the production of Ultrasound co-produced by Cahoots and Theatre Passe Muraille, in spring 2016.

Ultrasound was an ambitious production by deaf writer Adam Pottle, performed by two Deaf actors, featuring a Deaf Interpreter, dynamic titling, and the engagement of ASL Interpreters.
