Job Call: Communications and Programming Assistant

The Centre for Art Tapes is hiring a Communications and Programming Assistant through the Young Canada Works Program. This position will work closely with the Executive Director to carry out CFAT’s summer programming and support the organization with its general programming and communications needs.

The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of contemporary art, being enrolled as a full-time student working towards a degree or diploma with a focus on contemporary art, writing, media, filmmaking or a related field of study. Prior familiarity or volunteer work with Artist-run Centres will be considered an asset.

Candidates should have strong skills in writing, reading comprehension and communications. Candidates should have a strong knowledge of computers including the ability to work with word processing programs, cloud storage and shared files, and social media. Experience with design tools such as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop will be considered an asset.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative group environment is required. Candidates should be self-starters with the ability to set their own goals and deadlines and ask for feedback and support when needed. Candidates with experience participating in or creating safe/brave spaces and trauma-informed spaces will be given priority.

We anticipate that a portion of this position will be conducted remotely, amidst the global pandemic. CFAT can provide a laptop for the Communications and Programming Assistant to use throughout their position.
