Call for Applications: Executive Director

Hosted by BEING Studio

BEING Studio welcomes applications from Disability-identified candidates for the position of Executive Director. The position is offered as a one-year remote work contract, renewable to full-time permanent in 2022. We welcome candidates from anywhere in Canada to apply. Relocation to Ottawa would be required in 2022. On-the-job training will be provided within the first 2 months’ overlap with the exiting director, who will be available in an advisory capacity where needed beyond the month of August.

BEING is a not-for-profit Disability Arts organization dedicated to supporting the participation and professional practice of artists labelled with developmental disabilities. Based in Ottawa, BEING runs an accessible art studio located in the Bronson Centre and serves a diverse community of over 50 artist members. We highly value diversity and strive to create an inclusive and affirming space for all our members, staff, volunteers, and collaborators.

The organization has been continually adapting to the pandemic, launching several new initiatives aimed at keeping our members connected, creating, and sharing their work in the digital environment. BEING is experiencing a dynamic period of growth and is searching for a passionate and dedicated leader who can advance the Disability Arts mandate of the organization while steering the next phase of its evolution.

Working in a supportive and collegial environment, the Executive Director will have the opportunity to grow the impact of BEING Studio, and to support and amplify the artistic vision and leadership of artists with cognitive and intellectual disabilities, who are currently still vastly underrepresented in exhibitions and collections in Canada and abroad.

The deadline for applications is Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 5:00 pm Eastern Time. Candidates
