2022 Next Stage Theatre Festival

Hosted by Toronto Fringe

Returning. Transforming.

For this, our 15th Next Stage Theatre Festival, we are returning, and transforming. As we readjust to the new world and return to live theatre, we are offering you the best of the best in digital and in person.

In our new venue, the Ada Slaight Hall at Daniels Spectrum, we are sharing six shows, plus two digital on demand shows, and two digital real-time interactive shows to round out the group. There’s something for everyone in this exceptionally strong and eclectic mix of artists and shows; humour, music, innovation, vulnerability from artists with strong and clear voices, who are ready for their next stage: an audience (you!).

Accessibility

The Toronto Fringe is committed to creating an inclusive experience for all patrons, staff, artists, and volunteers, including those with disabilities. We work with our community to identify, prevent, and remove barriers so that a fulfilling experience can be enjoyed by all. For more information, please contact Suzanne Wilkie at admin@fringetoronto.com, or 416-966-1062 ext. 228.

All Next Stage shows provide standard access measures.

  • priority and accessible seating
  • welcoming service dogs
  • complimentary tickets for support workers

Digital Series

Many shows at Next Stage provide additional access measures at select performances including relaxed performances, closed audio description, ASL and Deaf interpretation. A full listing of shows with additional measures will be updated on this page. Please go to individual show pages for full details and check out the icons posted on the show schedules. General information about access measures can be found below.

Toronto Fringe has an ImmersX Tactile Body Immersion (TBI) seat to offer our patrons. A TBI chair provides an immersive sensory experience that converts sound signal into tactile vibrations, mapped to ten points in the back and seat. Select productions are able to offer a sound signal to the device to support a full TBI experience. There is one TBI seat available, patrons should reserve a TBI seat in advance when purchasing your ticket. Patrons are asked to arrive at least 25 minutes before to ensure early access and to identify themselves to Patron Services at the Next Stage Box Office.

Toronto Fringe is a grassroots, charitable organization that runs the Toronto Fringe Festival each July, the Next Stage Theatre Festival each January, and various year-round programs that benefit youth, artists, and the theatre community at large. We are a creative match-maker, connecting artists with audiences, and empowering everyone to unleash their inner artist. We create opportunities for both emerging and established artists to produce their work with artistic freedom, while engaging members of the community by making productions as affordable and accessible as possible.
