Visit the Digital Carnival Z

Hosted by Kudoz / Curiko

Sometimes art can make us feel uncomfortable, and that's not always a bad thing. Artists can use things like a painting to connect with us difficult experiences or teach us to accept parts of ourselves we don't always think about.

Join Regan from Cinevolution Media for an evening to deep-dive into Reflection of ME – by Natasha “Courage” Bacchus, a part of the Digital Carnival Z! To learn more about the artist and their work, read Natasha Courage Bacchus’ artist statement and biography.

Natasha Courage Bacchus is a Tkaronto-Guyanese Black Deaf Queer Female, and former Deaf olympian. This new video work shares her experiences of personal trauma within the broader context of a white, patriarchal, colonial society. The video runs for 5 minutes and 32 seconds. It is in ASL with English captions and a music soundtrack. Also available is a version with Extended Audio Description.

Content warning: The video references the artist’s personal experiences of racism and heteropatriarchy. Words may be triggering or uncomfortable for certain audiences.
