July 4, 2021 - August 15, 2021
Hosted by Cyborg Circus Project
The Cyborg Circus Project in collaboration with REAson D’être Dance is proud to present Disrupting Dance!
Disrupting Dance is a free online contact improv dance series for disabled dancers ages 16+ of all skill levels! Led by Kathleen Rea, these classes will focus on deepening your own understanding of contact improvisation skills, such as creating movement scores and exploring how we can partner with our disabilities and mobility devices in the improv process. This program prioritizes City of Toronto residents, but welcomes registration from disabled dancers globally. We define disability broadly and work from a cross-disability perspective. Participants with any disabilities including those who identify as Deaf, Mad, Chronically Ill, Neurodiverse, Developmentally Disabled, etc. are welcome to join. Self identification/self-diagnosis are explicitly welcome. Classes will be held over Zoom on July 4th, and 18th, August 1st and 15th. Classes will take place from 12-3 EDT. Students are welcome to sign up for one class, or for the entire series.
There will be ASL interpretation, CART, and audio descriptions available. Please let us know in advance if other accommodations are necessary for your participation - email firstname.lastname@example.org.
