ON-SITE with Curtia Wright: Mural Mentorship & Creation Program

Hosted by Nia Centre for the Arts

Gain hands on mural expereince!

Open to Black youth ages 18-29 who identify as LGBTQ2S+, this program offers participants the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in mural-making, while also learning how to transition their artistic practices from the page onto the wall. Participants will also work alongside Curtia Wright to produce a temporary mural. Facilitated by visual artist and muralist Curtia Wright, On Site will feature 5 online learning sessions online and one week of on-site mural work.

The temporary on-site mural work will take place at Nia Centre, 524 Oakwood Avenue, Toronto, using the construction hoarding that is currently in place. Murals will be drafted by participants and reviewed by Curtia who will provide feedback/support. Murals will be influenced by the themes within Curtia’s recent mural “Celebrating Queer Black Lives” presented in partnership with Steps Public Art.

Space is limited. Deadline to apply: July 9, 2021 | 11:59 pm
