Join us for a digital celebration that you can enjoy from the sofa!
At Expressions this year, the UK’s leading inclusive dance company Candoco Dance Company will share their digital creation Unspoken Spoken. Directed and choreographed by Fin Walker, the film exposes the potential that exists when we dare to challenge the rules. A captivating story told through BSL, voice and movement, Unspoken Spoken is performed by a cast of disabled and non-disabled dancers. Some younger, some older, they ask us to look deeper, to explore our own boundaries. You can also enjoy Virtual Dancing, a new animated dance film by choreographer Jem Clancy including disabled dancers from across the north. Jem has created beautiful work for Expressions previously, including with Northern Ballet’s In Motion dancers in 2018 and a new solo work in 2019. Her lived experience of autism gives her choreography a uniqueness that is engaging for audiences of all backgrounds and will be the perfect curtain raiser for the Candoco performance.
After the performances, please do stay around as we will be hosting a Q&A with Dan Daw, Candoco's Associate Artistic Director and performer in Unspoken Spoken.
