The Arts For Human Rights Awards Nominations

Hosted by JAYU

For artists doing exceptionally important things.

We created the Arts for Human Rights Awards in 2019 as a way to sift through the artistic brilliance in Toronto and recognize the incredible individuals creating exceptional work where the arts and human rights intersect.

We thank the Lewis Cohen Family Foundation, Harbinger Foundation, Meerkamper Family, and Sony Canada for their generous support.

Individuals can self-nominate or nominate others.

In order to qualify, the nominee must reside in the Greater Toronto Area and must have been practicing their art in the GTA for a minimum of one year.

Nominations will close on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 11:59PM EST

401 Richmond Street West, Suite 354, Toronto, ON, M5V 3A8, Canada

JAYU is a registered Canadian charity and a leader in the space where the arts and human rights intersect. We believe strongly that the arts provide the strongest platform to share human rights stories. The arts can be used to educate, to build empathy, to heal, to forge community and to inspire the kinds of conversations necessary to reimagine a more just and equitable world. Guided by our dedicated team of staff, artists, educators and our Board of Directors, our year-round programming includes our annual Human Rights Film Festival, our iAM arts and social justice training program, The Hum Podcast and our Human Rights Screening Series.
