Kinetic Light: Digital Film Screening with Alice Sheppard

Hosted by Listen to Dis' Community Arts Organization

Join us on October 12th at 6pm Saskatchewan time for a free online digital film screening of two films, “Revel in Your Body” and “The Making of Where Good Souls Fear”, from Kinetic Light presented by Listen to Dis' Community Arts Organization. The films feature dancers Alice Sheppard and Lauren Lawson. Alice Sheppard will be joining us for a Q&A where she will be answering questions about the film.

Alice Sheppard is the founder and artistic lead for Kinetic Light, a project based ensemble, working at the intersections of disability, dance, design, identity, and technology to create transformative art and advance the intersectional disability arts movement. Through rigorous investment in the histories, culture, and artistic work of intersectional disabled people, Kinetic Light promotes disability aesthetics as a creative force, wherein access is an aesthetic critical to the creative process rather than a retroactive accommodation.

Kinetic Light describes themselves as: “ . . .Different from many other performing arts companies that feature disabled dancers. We are a disability arts ensemble: We are led by a disabled artist; disabled artists create, design, and perform the work; our work speaks to and emerges from disability aesthetics and disability culture; and our work is connected to the rich traditions and exciting contemporary conversations of disabled artists in all artistic fields.”

You can read more about their work here: https://kineticlight.org/about

To Register: https://forms.gle/hkVb73ruP1JGzqrC7 or email shelby.lowe@listentodis.com.

Once you have registered, a Zoom link will be sent to you the morning of the event.
