Peek Fest Residency Program

As Part of Peek Fest, we offer up to 2 in-person companies/collectives/individual artists 25 hours of studio time each to research and workshop an in-development project. A 20 minute sneak-peek of this project will be included in the Peek Fest Showcase on Saturday, November 20.    We will offer 1 company/collective/individual artist a digital mentorship and residency, with an increased fee in lieu of studio time.   Adjudication is based on the state of the project as well as curation with other projects. Priority will be given to multidisciplinary projects. The Residency Program is intended for projects that have gone through the initial stages of development but have not yet had a full public presentation. The criteria for eligibility is open to discussion - if you feel like your project would benefit from this residency but feel it falls slightly outside the criteria, please contact us/apply and explain why.   This year, residency artists will receive one-on-one mentorship from Residency Mentor, Stewart Legere. Stewart Legere (he/him) is a multidisciplinary artist from Punamukwatijk/Dartmouth, Mi'kma'ki/Nova Scotia. He is the Co-Artistic Director of The Accidental Mechanics Group and Associate Artistic Director of Zuppa Theatre Co. His performances have been presented at theatres and festivals across Canada and the UK. He is a vocalist with orchestral pop outfit The Heavy Blinkers, and a solo singer/songwriter. He composes music and sound for theatre and film. An avid and passionate collaborator, his work is fascinated with sexuality, vulnerability, intimacy, the destruction of persona and the celebration of performance. He is currently an artist in residence at The Theatre Centre in Toronto, and the co-creator and director of 'the soft spaces', in development by Impulse Theatre.

OUT OF TOWN ARTISTS: We are able to subsidize some travel costs (eg. ferry and bus) for artists based in the lower mainland. If selected, we will work with you to secure billets for the duration of the festival.
