Digital Production Manager

Hosted by Realwheels Theatre

Realwheels creates and produces performances that deepen understanding of the disability experience. Our vision is full inclusion and integration of disability both on - and off - Canadian stages; a barrier-free diverse performing arts world that reflects the real world and all of its people. We’re committed to equity based initiatives to eliminate disability-based barriers that prevent access to the performing arts, both physical and attitudinal.

We are currently looking for a Digital Production Manager to work on our next professional project. In keeping with its mandate of creating and producing world-class art that inspires debate about universal issues, Realwheels is planning to create a new modernized translation of Jean-Paul Sartre’s existentialist classic, “No Exit,” a play about the pros and cons of connection and isolation and the complexities of human relations that have all become especially relevant today. In partnership with the Centre for Digital Media, Realwheels is planning to adapt “No Exit” as a digital streaming production with a heightened-reality surreal simulation of a “Zoom chatroom” as its setting, using OBS (Open Broadcast System). The integration of OBS to create this virtual representation of a Zoom platform for our new production will be key to the marriage of storytelling and digital effects that will result in a revisioning of “No Exit” within a contemporary context of social isolation.

The Digital Production Manager works in collaboration with the Production Manager to lead all production efforts including hiring and supervising production crew. They also facilitate communication between all members of the creative team and staff to ensure that production elements are executed safely, on time, and within budget. The production team focus on health and safety oversight and production expertise. The Production Manager is a self-motivated, organized leader who has the ability to multitask in a spontaneous and creative work environment.

Deadline: Oct. 14, 2021

Realwheels Theatre creates and produces performances that deepen understanding of the disability experience. We tell stories in which disability itself is not the focus of conflict, but rather forms the landscape upon which universal issues are debated onstage.
