Playwriting Circle: Public Reading

Hosted by Realwheels Theatre

Celebrate the creativity of emerging playwrights as we read excerpts of scripts they’ve been working on this season.

Since September, ten playwrights who self-identify with disability or as Deaf have been meeting weekly with facilitator Natasha Nadir to create and develop new work. We are excited to welcome four Canadian actors to help bring these scripts to life during this online reading.

Join us to support these emerging playwrights in the Canadian disability and Deaf theatre landscape.

Playwrights: Emily Brook, Ebony Gooden, Emma Kivisild, Sam MacPhee-Pitcher, Alex Masse, Gaitrie Persaud, Seeley Quest, Fiona Smith, Jennifer Strong, and Victoria Urquhart

ASL will be provided along with a link for live transcription.

Realwheels Theatre

Realwheels Theatre creates and produces performances that deepen understanding of the disability experience. We tell stories in which disability itself is not the focus of conflict, but rather forms the landscape upon which universal issues are debated onstage. Our vision is full inclusion and integration of disability both on – and off – Canadian stages; a barrier-free, diverse performing arts world that reflects the real world and all of its people.
