Call for Applications - PAPERHOLIC: Obsession papier

In its temporary exhibitions, La Guilde highlights mediums, artists, or themes related to its mission. In recent years, we have seen a growing interest in the exploration and use of paper in the practices of both established and emerging artists. For the first time, La Guilde is looking for works dedicated to this material, where the subject, medium, or representation is paper. This exhibition aims to push the boundaries of this incredible medium. We want to see practices that cut, fold, tear, sculpt, weave, create pop-ups, or play with illusions. If paper is the star, there is a place for it at La Guilde!

Wishing to support the artists both financially and by offering visibility, the selected works must be available for purchase for the duration of the exhibition. We are looking for two types of works to present artists in more than one sphere of activity at La Guilde. The first type will be dedicated to the exhibition (e.g. more exploratory works or larger formats). The second type will be available in the gallery (e.g. works more accessible for acquisition).

We invite artists working with the medium of paper or exploring the theme of paper to submit their work for the group exhibition PAPERHOLIC: Obsession papier taking place from July 7 to September 11, 2022 at La Guilde (1356 Sherbrooke Street West, Montreal, QC H3G 1J1).

Founded in 1906, La Guilde is a non-profit organization that aims to preserve, promote, and increase awareness for Inuit art, First Nations art, and Fine Crafts from Canada. In addition to its permanent exhibition—which presents objects from its collection—La Guilde has a dynamic programming of temporary exhibitions and cultural activities, educational programs, and archives of remarkable historical wealth. La Guilde is also an art gallery with works by established and emerging artists, available for sale.
