Major Projects Call-to-Enter
The Works International Visual Arts Society produces art and education initiatives that engage diverse communities, disrupt the everyday, and facilitate connection and wonder.
The Works Art & Design Festival is the largest free, outdoor art and design festival in North America. Since The Works’ first festival in 1986, over 7 million visitors have experienced more than 16,000 artists and designers from every continent, in 1,300 exhibits in and around Edmonton’s downtown. 11,000 volunteers have contributed more than 240,000 hours. The Works takes an entire year to produce with 5 full time and 35 seasonal staff.
The Works now seeks proposals for major projects to animate Sir Winston Churchill Square and other public spaces in Edmonton for the 2022 Festival, June 23 to July 5, 2022. Eligible projects are those that are produced or finished upon The Works’ acceptance of the proposal, or those that require extensive preparation and project management.
Proposals for individual or two-artist exhibitions of artworks that are already completed may apply to the Community Programs Stream (coming soon).
Deadline: Due January 21, 2022, 11 PM MST
The Works is dedicated to accessibility, inclusion, interactivity, and socially engaged practice.
