Youth Position: Artistic Intern

The Arts Club Theatre Company is Western Canada’s largest professional theatre company. Now in its 58th season, this not-for-profit charitable organization typically produces and presents year-round at three venues—the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage, Granville Island Stage, and Newmont Stage—as well as on tour throughout the province.
The following opportunity is for an 8-week placement supported by the Canada Summer Jobs program that supports employers in creating jobs for young Canadians across the country. The candidate will receive mentorship from the Arts Club from the Artistic department in hiring, onboarding, contracting, season planning, auditioning, artistic outreach, new play development and more!
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Auditions:
- Learn about and assist in the planning & running of show-specific auditions; outreach, scheduling, greeting artists, set up and tear down.
- Given a chance to sit in on auditions as well to learn what it takes inside the room to run auditions day smoothly
Artistic Events:
- Learn about and assist with the planning, organizing and running artistic events including Art’s Club New Play Festival, workshops, readings, Incubator series, Write from the Wings and artist gatherings
Day to day:
- Tasks & errands may include working with the Artistic department to keep up to date & organized in the office and theatres; could include specifically mailing & receiving script packages, setting up dressing rooms for artists in theatres, organizing and filing paperwork in the office
