Youth Positions: Performers

Impulse Theatre is seeking 5 Performers to join as collaborators on a unique performance and creation mentorship experience this summer. Over the span of approximately 8 weeks through June and July, the performers will participate in:

  • the development of a performance structure for Impulse’s outdoor, site-responsive dance theatre work ‘Molecular Landscapes’
  • a week-long workshop of Impulse’s ‘joy machine’ at the Metro Studio Theatre

In tandem, the performers will be provided space to lead their own performance creations, which will be showcased at the conclusion of the contract.

The company is looking for performers with a strong base in contemporary dance and/or physical theatre practice, and an interest in non-traditional creation. Some experience with site-specific and outdoor performance is an asset.

Each position averages 35 hours a week at $20/hour, over an average of 8 weeks.

These positions are funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program, and duration and hours per week are subject to change based on final funding. Applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of employment; a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

We are accepting Letters of Interest from prospective Performers now until May 4th.

Interviews for shortlisted applicants will be scheduled the week of May 9th, with potential outdoor auditions that weekend.
