Call for Submissions: Comedy is Art 2022

Hosted by The Theatre Centre

Comedy is Art is back for a third year and we are looking for comedians of all kinds; standup, improv and sketch, to bless the stages. This is a paid opportunity.

Please submit a link to a maximum three minute video and a little bit about yourself. We’ll also ask you to share one, or several of the following, depending on what you’ve got. No need to create anything specifically for this – we just want to get a sense of you as an artist: CV, Instagram, website or another way we can get to know your work.

This is festival is all love: we know comedy comes in all flavours but we’re not interested in jokes that are hateful or phobic.

The festival is taking place October 25-29, 2022 in the Franco Boni Theatre at The Theatre Centre (1115 Queen St. W). Depending on your technical needs, you may be asked to attend a rehearsal the week of October 17-22. Set times for the festival will be determined later in conversation with the artist’s schedule.

Submissions will close Friday June 6 at 11:59PM EST

Accessibility

The Theatre Centre is committed to equity practices. We encourage applications from queer, transgender and two-spirited people, First Nations, Inuit & Métis, people of colour, and people with disabilities.

At the time of this posting, we are still asking that audiences and artists are fully vaccinated and masked to enter the building. If you have any thoughts or questions on this policy, please share them in your application form or reach out to comedyisart@theatrecentre.org
