Disability Arts Week - Commercial Auditions with Alexia
Disability Arts Week is a series of educational events lead by professional artists with disabilities.
In her own practice Alexia is seeing a lot more commercial clients specifically looking for disabled representation in the content they are creating, which is very exciting and long overdue. This workshop will help artists of any age understand the process of auditioning for commercials and allow folks to get some practice as well!
Disability Arts Week is a celebration of artists with disabilities and their important and unique contributions to the art world. All workshops are specifically designed to be accessible to neurodivergent folks and folks with intellectual disabilities. All are welcomed and encouraged in this space. We welcome folks of all abilities, of all life experiences, literacy levels and verbal as well as non-verbal communicators. If you don't identify as having a disability you are also welcome. Recommended for ages 13+
Alexia Vassos is an actor, writer and voice over artist currently based outside the GTA. A graduate from the Theatre and Drama Studies joint program between the University of Toronto and Sheridan College, her first love has always been the stage. In the last year, she has explored the wonderful world of commercial work, television (upcoming Pink is In on Bell Fibe TV1) and film (upcoming Under the Christmas Tree on Lifetime). Alexia is presently in the process of creating a solo show centered around growing up disabled in a family that over-shares and a world that under-serves.
