Indigenous Artist in Residence

The City of Regina, located on Treaty 4 land, is pleased to announce the launch of the first annual Indigenous Artist in Residence Program. This program creates a part-time residency for an Indigenous artist (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) to explore their practice, facilitate free and accessible community engagement and create work(s) of art to be included within the City's Civic Art Collection.

The residency is intended to celebrate and amplify the voices of Indigenous artists and the Indigenous artistic and cultural presence in the community. The artist will design public engagement and outreach activities according to their individual artistic practice. These activities could include community projects, workshops and artist talks.

The theme for 2022 will explore “Urban Indigeneity”. The artist may work in any medium including but not limited to: 2D, 3D, Indigenous traditional arts, dance, music, spoken or written word, public art, or installation. This opportunity is open only to First Nations, Métis, or Inuit people residing full-time in Regina during the residency, from July to December.

The deadline to submit proposals is June 28, 2022, at 4 p.m.

Please note this opportunity is only open to Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) artists. If you also belong to another equity-seeking group (i.e., 2SLGBTQ+, disability) who have experienced oppression and/or exclusion that you would like to indicate, please do so in your submission.
