Job Opportunity: Community Engagement Producer
Driven by a passion to serve its audiences in bold and innovative ways, Gateway Theatre enriches the quality of life in Richmond and surrounding communities by creating outstanding artistic offerings and by serving as a dynamic hub for the performing arts. To achieve our organizational mission and connect with the changing population of Richmond, we employ staff with eclectic and multifaceted expertise. As a group we take risks, we empower, we go beyond, we listen. We embrace difference as something that challenges our understanding and provokes our growth. So, if you won’t settle for the expected, you have found your crew. Reporting to the Director of Artistic Programs, the Community Engagement Producer is at the heart of the new programming initiatives that Gateway is undertaking: connecting the company to new communities and creating events and engagement opportunities for people in today’s Richmond. This person will lead the conception and execution of community-engaged programming, plus ancillary events designed to introduce the public to Gateway’s more traditional plays and musicals. The successful candidate will be a community-builder and a people-person, with a passion for the performing arts and an understanding of event planning. Ideally, they will have Cantonese or Mandarin language skills and a connection with the broader East Asian community. *For the right candidate, it may be possible to pro-rate the position and compensation to 30 hours per week, if that is their preference.
