Call for Applications: Paid Internship
Established in 1966, the League of Canadian Poets is a national non-profit organization dedicated to supporting, engaging, and promoting poets and poetry in Canada. The League’s mission is to develop the art of poetry; to enhance the status of poets and nurture a professional poetic community; to facilitate the teaching of Canadian poetry at all levels of education; to enlarge the audience for poetry by encouraging publication, performance and recognition of Canadian poetry nationally and internationally; to uphold freedom of expression.
The League of Canadian Poets is seeking a Communications and Programming Intern to join our team temporarily. This paid internship is part-time, running from November 2022 to May 2023, with a focus on existing League programs, communications and programming. There is a chance to extend the length of this internship slightly for those interested in continuing part-time work with the League of Canadian Poets. Please note that this internship is ideal for a student who is currently in a program and interested in working in arts administration, the charitable or the non-profit sector. This internship has been designed to have a focus on Communication and Programming, and to provide a thorough overview of programming for the audience and stakeholders for the League of Canadian Poets.
**This role is primarily remote (work from home position) but there may be opportunities for a limited amount of in-person work in the summer of 2023 for those interested in an extended position. **
**We are particularly interested in working with candidates who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQI2S, disabled, neurodivergent or newcomers to Canada. **
Please note that we welcome applicants from every part of Canada and are willing to work with education programs to ensure the successful applicant can receive school credit where applicable. While we are primarily interested in working with students, we are also open to supporting those who may be looking to change careers or to gain experience in a new field.
Application deadline October 11, 2022.
