How to Cook a Book

How to Cook a Book is an eight-week online course designed to give commercial food photographers, aspiring cookbook authors, and people who do both all the tools and information they need to pursue traditional publishing in an ever-changing industry.

Publication doesn’t happen by accident. It requires a lot of hard work and preparation. After completion of this course, you will have what you need to give yourself the best possible chance of success. You will also receive resources to help navigate the industry and become aware of how to spot predatory practices.

This course will begin the week of October 18. Each week, a one-and-a-half to two-hour class is dedicated to each step of the journey, with sometimes dedicated to questions during each session. The time of each weekly class will be 11 am PDT/ 2 pm EDT/ 7 pm BDT. Day of the week TBD based on a poll.

Space is limited to 15 participants. A waitlist will be created if more show interest.

Course price: $800 USD

If you have an existing Canada Council for the Arts profile, you may apply for a grant for this course.

Accessibility

If people can't attend during the live portion of the classes, they have 1-on-1 access to the instructor for the length of the course, and live sessions will be recorded. Slides from the presentations will also be made available.
