Creative Users Projects is hiring!

We're currently seeking applications for our new Digital Programs Manager position.

Duration: 1-year contract with potential for renewal depending on funding  **Hours & wage: **28 hrs/week @ $30/hr (16 days paid vacation in August, 8 days paid in December) Deadline for applications: November 30th, 2022 **Location: **remote **Start date: **January 9, 2023

We are a small but ambitious and creative team embarking on a start up digital venture - building Canada’s first online Deaf and disability arts community with stakeholders - and we’re looking for a Digital Programs Manager to join our team!

The Digital Programs Manager will oversee and manage online community programs at Creative Users Projects including supporting iterative design of programs based on community feedback and needs.

As a not-for-profit organization, we work with our community to explore and test new digital features, services, and products, which means we’re looking for someone with an experimental and curious mindset, who is comfortable with ambiguity and is able to effectively engage with our community through the experimental process.

The ideal candidate has a “call in” rather than “call out” attitude - they’re compassionate and non-judgmental when working with disabled and non-disabled individuals with different experiences. The candidate has experience working collaboratively with teams and communities and is adept at mediating conflict when it arises both in person and online.

The candidate is also familiar with accessible cultural models and practices in the arts, and is passionate about building awareness and sharing knowledge about these practices with the wider arts community.

About us Creative Users Projects is a disability arts service organization with a mission to build a sustainable future for Deaf and Disabled creatives.

Our online platform and programming strive to connect diverse and underrepresented communities and provide the tools and resources needed for changemakers to build a more inclusive arts sector.

In the last decade, Creative Users has worked strategically with partners and communities hosting cultural and knowledge exchange programs, creative development workshops, group exhibitions, and research and development initiatives. Our values:

We value curiosity and learning where people can bring their authentic selves, their honest questions, and their perspectives to the team without judgment.

We value models rooted in care and respect and strive to create a workspace where people feel safe knowing they can communicate their needs.

We value shared leadership and the critical role each person on our team plays to hold space and build an environment that is collaborative, creative, and sustainable.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, oversee and manage online community programs (e.g. online artists meetups, partner jams, member socials, digital skills building workshops, and more)
  • Ongoing communication with community and partners during work hours to gather input for improving members’ experiences.
  • Work with and support program partners on development of Arts Access Workbooks (industry-specific resources that help arts organizations improve their accessibility) and other products
  • Activate and moderate engagement on Slack channels and respond to members inquiries when needed.
  • Provide mentorship support about access to stakeholders when needed.

Desirable Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Ability to write in friendly plain language
  • Knowledgeable about Deaf and Disability Arts and accessible cultural practices.
  • Organized and able to identify and manage priorities
  • Goal oriented, and keen on growing and achieving personal goals.
  • Comfortable working with online technology and team collaboration software such as Airtable, Slack, Zoom and Google Drive

The ideal candidate for this role:

  • Is compassionate, and collaborative;
  • Is curious and thoughtful about other people’s experiences; and
  • Is comfortable having difficult conversations and values working through differences with individuals privately rather than publicly.

How we work A bit of information about our team! We are a small but growing, ambitious team. We currently operate remotely, meeting online on a weekly basis via Zoom to provide progress updates and collaborate on decisions. We work a 4-day work week from Tuesday through Friday. We operate primarily with the following digital applications: Airtable, Google Workspace, Slack, Figma, Miro, Wordpress, and Zoom.

What does the interview process look like? Shortlisted candidates will be invited to meet with Creative Users Projects’ Creative Director, Lindsay Fisher and board members for an interview to speak to projects they’ve worked on in the past and their experience managing programs.

This is also an opportunity for us to share more information about how we work as a team and for the candidate to ask questions about the role!

Candidates may also be invited to participate in a second interview. All candidates shortlisted for an interview will be notified of the outcome.
