Call for Submissions: 2023 Ambassador Program
BC Culture Days, in partnership with Kickstart Disability Arts & Culture, is now accepting applications to the 2023 Ambassador Program. The 2023 Ambassador Program invites emerging artists of all mediums located in B.C. to develop, coordinate, and present a community-based event for Culture Days 2023 (September 22 - October 15, 2023) centred around the theme of Accessibility and Inclusion. Through their events, ambassadors will apply accessible practices and create inclusive spaces for their communities, encouraging participation in arts and culture for all.
We invite artists who self-identify as Indigenous, Black, a Person of Colour, disabled, Deaf, hard of hearing, crip, chronically ill, mad, trauma-impacted, neurodivergent, 2SLGBTQQIA+, and/or those who are culturally invested in disability communities to apply. Given the provincial scope of our work, we also aim to prioritize regional artists and organizations in rural or remote areas. *Please note, this is not an exhaustive list of disability and related identities.
Up to ten successful emerging artists from across the province will receive artist fees and a production budget totalling $1,000 to present a community-engaged event or activity during Culture Days. The activity should encourage public participation and must be free for the public to attend. Successful applicants will also participate in a paid 6-month mentorship ($2,000 total for approx. 8 hrs/month) with an established artist starting in May, and act as a Culture Days media spokesperson for their community from July-September.

Deadline: February 28 at 11:59pm PST.
