Call for Submissions: Fall/Winter 2021
Hosted by Studio Magazine
The deadline for pitches and story ideas is January 15.
Studio Magazine is a national publication committed to thoughtful, careful, and engaging writing about contemporary Canadian craft and design. We also have an ongoing commitment to supporting and mentoring writers.
Studio welcomes article pitches from both emerging and established writers, academics, scholars, and journalists writing about contemporary Canadian craft and design and related stories. We are interested in original ideas, unique voices and perspectives, little-known histories, and anything that challenges the status quo of craft and design and the ideas around making.
Call for submissions
The Fall/Winter 2021 issue of Studio explores the theme of GENERATION, playing fast and loose with its etymology, meanings, synonyms, and antonyms: generate, generative, degenerate, generations, degeneration, regenerate, etc. This is intended to encompass everything from lineage to heritage, production to duplication, creativity to exploration. We will explore generation in Canadian craft and design from any and all perspectives and angles, from tools to process to geographies and materials, markets and galleries. Some prompts to consider:
- Craft lineages and heritage
- Histories and futures
- Paradigm shifts
- Social change and upheaval
- Relationships and connections
- Radical change
- Sites, spaces and infrastructures
- Virtuality and materiality
The deadline for pitches and story ideas is January 15th. Please send pitches to email@example.com and include in your pitch links a brief bio and links to writing samples. We review all pitches, and those that are accepted for publication will be contacted by email. Payment is upon publication.
