Integrated Dance Forum
Hosted by InterdepenDance Collective / Creative Momentum
4100 Lambrick Way, Victoria, BC, Canada
10:30 AM – 4:30 PM
The InterdepenDance Collective invites the public to learn about and experience mixed-ability dance. Dance artists will share ways for increasing access, equity and cross-disability leadership in the arts. The day will also build connections among people involved in dance on the island and encourage future collaborations.
Feel free to register for just part of the day.
This event takes place in the homelands of the Lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples.
Free. Relaxed environment. Live describing, sign language interpreters and transcribing/captioning are available by request. The describing team will focus on the approaches to dance description that participants prefer (a few examples are narrating physical movements, metaphor, option of tactile describing). The describers are dancers who are learning to describe dance. There will be one wearable SUBPAC tactile music technology available for taking turns (unfortunately they are sold out so only one is available). If you would like there to be a visual interpretation for the beat, rhythm or melody of music, please request this on the registration form Please request interpreters, captioning and describing by February 7. Wheelchair accessible venue is Accessibility Certified by the Rick Hansen Foundation. Level entrance. Push button automatic doors at entrance. Single stall gender neutral wheelchair accessible washrooms. More accessibility information is available on the Creative Momentum website.
