MAI is neither an institution nor a self-managed artist center. We often speak of MAI as a strange beast because of its multidimensional modus operandi and the peculiarity of its mandate. He is an inclusive, multicultural and multidisciplinary presenter offering an artist-oriented support program and the initiator of an annual community exchange and an audience development program called Public + . The MAI defends and supports the development, creation, presentation and promotion of intercultural arts (hybrid arts resulting from an amalgam of forms, genres, styles, disciplines and languages) intended for various audiences. It offers programs that stimulate dialogue about intercultural, intergenerational, interdisciplinary arts and related themes, while encouraging community and intercultural exchanges that transcend gender, race, class, ability, sexual orientation, religion, age, language or other sectarian axes of identity, marked or not. In other words, MAI is a space where dualities and pluralities are one. Ultimately, the MAI aspires that its programming and its public development and community exchange activities promote inclusion and offer a different perspective from “we”. He wants to be the home of artists for whom the communion of cultures is essential.
